Grandma Came to Visit

Charlie's mom came for a visit last Wednesday and left on Monday evening. Her flight home was originally scheduled to return her home on Sunday but was cancelled so we had the blessing of one more day together. Joyce loves watching golf as much as Charlie and so much of our time was spent watching the US Open, they even have me hooked now! Anyway, we had a very sweet time with her. Thursday we took the girls fishing...it was a hot one too! No one caught anything, though Kennedi came close a couple of times...she loves fishing, as long as someone will bait her hook.;)...much like Mama. We took a picnic lunch and enjoyed the beauty around us. Before we left the park we let the girls cool down by running along side the beach area and getting their feet wet. But that only teased them so we later took them to Michelle's dad's pool and cooled off there for a couple of hours. On Friday we went shopping as Grandma is always so helpful to fill our cupboards when she comes. She took us to lunch and then we came home and watched a movie. On Saturday we thought the "Strawberry Fest" in Wabash sounded appealing. Though we couldn't find any strawberries worth mentioning. It wasn't what we expected...yes, we had expectations that left us disappointed. But Courtney bought some vegan soap that we are crazy about and has scented our bathroom with an lasting aroma! On Sunday Grandma went to church with us and spent the rest of the time watching Tiger and Rocco and we took time to play dice with the girls for a while Sunday night. It was hard to say good-bye as it always is, knowing it will be a good amount of time until we see her again. She usually brings her sister, Aunt Red, who didn't come this time. We missed seeing her. Hopefully, she can make the trip the next visit. Today we have that sadness lingering as Grandma is now gone. But in time we will get back into the routine of life and we will look forward to our next visit with her. We miss both Grandmas these days with Granny being in Michigan now. You just learn to embrace the time you get. Thanks for reading and God bless!

Sometimes I wonder if the Lord plans for our family to live a distant at times. Just so we can see them and love them more like He does. For it is so easy for us to come to a common place when they are in our same area. I have always greatly cherished time with my grandparents, for I have only been able to see them a few times a year or less. And my cousins who have lived closer, have often told me it was very easy for them to take our grandparents for granted because they were so close to them.
I am so glad you and your family had a wonderful visit with Charlie's mom. You are so blessed. Love you bunches, Michelle
